The Ceiba del Mar represents the only luxury hotel in the area. At only three stories high, and tucked between a deserted beach and the verdant jungle, the cluster of eight buildings feels like a cozy little residential village. The pool area is for us one of the hotel's best features. It's well maintained, staff are always around to bring food or drink without being intrusive, and its location is idyllic. There is even a swim up bar with stools in the shade, so that after an hour or two of hard sunbathing, you can just float across and have a refreshing cocktail. A second, round pool is located closer to the restaurant.

The resort’s modified American plan includes sweet rolls and coffee or tea in the room every morning plus a full breakfast and dinner of Mediterranean, Mexican, or spa cuisine at the restaurant Xtabay.

Guests typically take lunch at El Arrecife, a bar and grill near both the beach and the two swimming pools (one with swim-up bar). In addition, the Lobby Lounge offers cocktails and snacks from the afternoon until the wee hours.
